uh-man-duh

In my small group of friends in high school there was this girl Amanda, we were friends but each had closer friends and we didn't hang out very much, maybe a total of 3/4 times. All last year after high school I never saw her or spoke to her again.
..until I saw that she was applying to FIT. She was always very talented and I was so happy for her so I IMed her and let her now. At the same time I was applying to The New School, also in NYC so I told her that too and we were so excited we would be in the city together. Fast forward to today, we are both loving it here but d
on't really have a ton of friends. We have now been hanging out alot and she is sooo much fun!
A few weeks ago we went vintage/thrift/consignment shopping:

finally settled in

and have time to post...

When I last wrote I was in the first stages of buying furniture and then once I started life got real hectic and then school began and then I moved. So now I've been in my lovely apartment for a week and almost everything is done (even cable and internet was installed today). The only thing left is my bed. I found the most perfect loft bed with a hidden ladder that is from a company in nyc that can ship it for free and install it for a small price. How perfect, right? Well the day before I went to move in the owner calls me to tell me they are out...um what? You placed my order and it went through, how are you possibly out? Then he lied and told me a week and now it has been a week and he is saying another two. I can't find another NYC company that has a loft with a hidden ladder so for now the mattress is on the floor and the bookcase in the middle of the room.

Here are the pics of the temporary set-up:
(view from the door-bed and bookshelf are only temporarily there, i may even put a table over there)

(almost the same view but with more of the couch and coffee table in sight-remember, the bed is a loft and its going above the couch)
(view from the couch of the kitchen and the bathroom, since this was taken the tv is above the microwave and will soon be on the wall)
(view of the bathroom-i love that shower curtain!)
(another pic of the bathroom, taken from inside the shower)
(lastly, the closet-so roomy!)

union square

a. the several story barnes and noble
b. the used bookstore
c. starbucks
d. whole foods
e. so much more that i haven't even taken in yet

All of those great places are within a 30 second walk of my new apartment! The other day Howie, Mo and I went into NYC to meet with the broker and by the end of the day we had chosen a place. It's a somewhat small apartment, 250s/f, but it has a big bathroom, big closet and as I just listed, it's in the center of so much! Oh and it's a 5 minute walk from school. On Monday I'm going back into the city to see the apartment again, take some photos, and get some measurements. Then I can start on the really exciting part: shopping! I'll post some pics of the place soon, but for now here are the pretty peices I have found online that I hope/plan to get:

this lovely loft bed...

with this couch underneath...

On another note, last Friday at a UFO (unfinished object night) I got to use my new Martha Stewart butterfly punch (which I scored on the clearance rack for 5$) and those rockin' Making Memories tiny letters on a layout with the new Moda Bella papers. The title and journaling is taken from my daily conversations with Lei who always wants assurance on the best things in her life:

i'm gunna be a supermodel...

For years and years, as long as Lauren has been into photography, I have always been her model. At one point we were into horror, macabre photos and we even made some fake blood, dripped it down my mouth, held a knife to my throat and I let her shoot away. Our little photoshoots are not so drastic anymore but they still result in wonderful pictures. Lauren has this way of making me look d@mn good in photos. What's even more ironic about the layout I made to remember this is that 99.9% of the time I actually am lost in thought, and here the title states otherwise.
